Did you feel that?

"A 3.9-magnitude earthquake shook the Ottawa Valley and was felt as far as Toronto on Tuesday, April 14."
I didn't feel it here in St Catharines, but I did hear a loud thud. I thought something landed on my roof (it was extremely windy yesterday).

@BarBaraPrz - I feel the earthquakes a few seconds before I feel the tremors. My head spins for a moment with no reason.

I don't think I've ever felt an earthquake. On the other side of Missouri, they get earthquakes once in a great while but we don't feel those, either.
I'm glad you didn't feel anything.

I'm definitely too far away to have felt that one!
There was a 3.8-magnitude earthquake near us a few years ago. I was at work at the time and we initially thought that a car had struck the building because of the same sort of loud thud. Apparently it happens when the seismic vibrations reach the surface. The energy is transferred from the ground to the atmosphere and the way it pushes the air works similarly to a sonic boom.
Kind of interesting how it works, huh?

Glad you didn't feel it and that it wasn't worse. We had a minor earthquake here probably a year ago and it was such a weird experience. It wasn't even in my area but I guess close enough that we felt the rumbles. I would hate to experience a major earthquake.

Yeah, that wouldn't be any fun.
