Whats For Dinner?

United States

I decided to basically take the day off and relax! Seems like s funny thing to say when I'm retired It's such a beautiful day and I enjoyed some outside time. Even my dog Mush loved getting some fresh air and laying in the sun. I read my book and she napped. I realized how far behind I am with my reading. Only managed 7 books so far for this year. Certainly makes me feel like a slacker. Anyway, its time to start dinner . I'm making a turkey tenderloin with baked sweet potatoes and lima beans. Usually I would prefer mashed potatoes but we bought sweets this week just shake things up a bit. Seems like a bit of a heavier, hot meal for such a warm day but with the price of food can't just not eat what's handy. So, what's on your table tonight?

I mopped and washed the floors yesterday while my husband was napping. For lunch I made pasta with a tomato sauce and for dinner I prepared a Moroccan dish, a slow cooked stew of chicken with several vegetables (eggplants, zucchini, potatoes and chickpeas).

@Marilynda1225 - I also hate mopping floors, this is something that always gives me a headache, but it does not last long. I walked to the store to buy a few things and forgot the basil to make pesto.

@LadyDuck mopping gives me a backache. Now I have to do housework in spurts and can no longer do as much in one day as I used to. I hate when I forget something at the store.

Just because people are retired doesn't mean they're not busy with other things. So you deserve that day off and relax!

@Marilynda1225 We have always either gone out to eat on Thursday nights or done take out. It is just really nice to enjoy a meal without having thought it up first and prepared it and then deal with the clean up. We like to catch up over a meal quietly.

It sure sounds tasty! I’m glad to hear you enjoyed such a beautiful day. It was gorgeous here too, and the humidity wasn’t crazy either. I’ll be having a chicken enchilada, most likely.

We had one of those beautiful days here too. Your dinner sounds interesting. I haven't had lima beans in ages. I don't care for sweet potatoes but love russet potatoes any way they are cooked.

My dogs have been staying out as much as I will let them. I cooked a roast down and then shredded it and added gravy. Very good over bread

My main meal today was a casserole. I enjoy making tater tot casserole. I line a baking pan with tater tots, add slice kielbasa, top with pizza sauce, and shredded cheddar. It comes out really tasty.

Except for the lima beans, your dinner sounds delicious. I made hamburger stroganoff. I haven't had that in years. It was so easy to make.

Your dinner sounds yummy. I'm glad you took some time for yourself. I had a PB&J sandwich, potato poppables and yogurt.
