Seems expensive to me

My mom bought me some sliced turkey for sandwiches. Got me half a pound, which turned out to be six slices. At $11.99/lb the cost came out to $6. That’s a dollar a slice. Wow! That’s a lot. Unless I am wrong. At least it tastes good. I already enjoyed two open-faced sandwiches. Lithuanian rye bread, mayo, turkey, Manouri cheese, and tomato sprinkled with smoked sea salt on the side. Delicious!

In my country, everything is skyrocketing in its prices. Sometimes I have it just to experience it because it is not frequent.

@lovebuglena I have not tried to eat turkey. It is not available in the market here. I wondered if it tastes like the meat of native chickens.

@Shavkat you do not have the turkey you slice for sandwiches or you don’t have any kind of turkey at all where you live?

Compared to Russian salami it’s cheap. Russian beef salami is either $19.99/lb or perhaps even higher. But yes it’s a lot. Next time I’m at the supermarket I will see how much they’re selling turkey for.

At my Russian store veal bologna is $14.99/lb from what I remember. Or maybe a little more than that. Ridiculous.

It was regular turkey. Not smoked. Not honey/maple. Nothing to rave about. But with everything the taste was good.

Wow! $11.99 per pound is pretty steep. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

The price of meat in general is becoming cost prohibitive here too. I don’t think turkey slices are quite as expensive here as there, but it’s definitely not cheap. The price of beef is the killer here, and as a rule I don’t buy it. It was half price here at Easter, but I still couldn’t justify buying it. With the Iran war going on, it’s only going to get more expensive.
