Macro

April 23, 2026 10:36am CST
Tulips have opened fully now So I thought I would have a look inside the blooms with my macro settings on my camera on the phone Sadly keeping my hand steady is a problem But this picture gives a good idea of what the inside of the bloom looks like

@ineeddentiures Impressive. I’ve been sitting in the warm sunshine among my tulips this afternoon regretting not having a suitable beverage to sip and having to make do with a can of G&T from the back of the fridge which, I hasten to add, is not my preferred tipple.

@Ineeddentures - I know it's not easy. This is one I took last year of a bell pepper little flower with a small insect on it.

@LadyDuck You must have been better at keeping your hand still than I was

Holding the lens close to the object is not easy. I shake like a jelly in the wind

Some of these things are amazingly intricate. Insects' eyes are a mass of colour and patterning too.

@Ineeddentures If you talk to them nicely, they'll pose for you.

I may well capture and render an insect harmless in order to macro it's eyes judy

I have a hard time keeping steady, too - I don't think I could ever get a good pic of the moon. I like your pic, though! It makes me want to do some macro with my new one.

@AliCanary It's a bit dark here to do that But I think in daylight it would be really great to do just that

Yes, taking these close ups, like telephotos, the slightest wobble can ruin your efforts

Interesting picture here. I wouldn’t know it’s a tulip if you hadn’t mentioned it.

@Ineeddentures I think someone that really knows their flowers would be able to tell from your picture that it’s a tulip. No?
