Of the Palo Verde, it's much more showy and so far I've only seen one grow to 6 feet which is tall enough for me. Pardon the background, that's the pine tree I'm working on currently I am assuming you have seen this variety on your travels through the US @ladyduck is that correct? This is the one and only Desert Bird of Paradise @diannen, the bush I stole the seed pods from was the Red variety but I suppose the bees cross pollinated and of course this one came up. I love it though. What do you think? I found the cover of Apache by Jeff Beck, I thought it was awesome. Can you tell I like this tune?

I think they are beautiful! I may have seen them when I was in your neck of the woods, but at the time knew nothing about flowers. They grew beautifully for you. It would be awesome if you could create many more in your yard from their seeds or from some more pilfered seeds. I would love to try growing them in Connecticut, but they prefer hot, dry areas. Enjoy them!

@rebelann I usually buy those when I make my own flower arrangements. They are beautiful and last quite awhile.

Yes, I have seen this variety on our travels through the US. Those flowers are pretty and indigenous people of South America use this plant for curing fever, sores, and cough.

@rebelann I bought a book about the local trees, flowers and herbs. I like to know about how the indigenous people took advantage of what was available.

However did you guess It's a classic tune and I remember hearing it back in the late 1960s on one of the FM radio stations we had back then but they never played it as often as I would have liked
