It was a long, good afternoon for us.

It's a bit rare that I can get son out of the house for something other than a medical procedure or an appointment. He called his sister Friday, which led to us being invited to their home today for burgers and brats on the grill. I was asked to bring a potato casserole that son, daughter, and son in law all like, so I made that. We also had pistachio cake that was delicious.
Son loves to go to see them, and of course so do I. And my ''granddog'' is always absolutely ecstatic when I get there. Daughter tells her ''Grandma's coming!'' and she waits by the door until we arrive. It's nice to have them closer than Florida. They aren't home a lot as they divide their time between home and helping with his 90-year-old parents, but we do all enjoy each other's company, and they are very glad to be home again. Son feels comfortable over there, if he isn't feeling strong, he knows he can rest there or parks on the couch after the meal and visits.
We feel so fortunate to have them back close by. A nice afternoon and evening!

Only our family can give us that kind of happiness and security. God bless.

That was so nice for you, to eat pizza with the neighbors. I am glad they live so close by.

He was able to rest some while he was there so it was very nice, Good food, a rest, and lots of good conversations. I am sure my son gets more than tired of his old Mom's company, although he never complains. Thank you, Karen.

@MarieCoyle It is just THE greatest when an animal loves you so much as yours does.
We get and give so much in such a connection.

That dog gets so much love and attention from daughter and son in law. But when I show up, she is simply over the moon excited. And now that the son is with me, she has decided she loves him, too. And he loves dogs, so it works out so well. It always nice to have an animal love you. Thanks.

That sounds like a really lovely day. It’s nice that your son was able to get out and enjoy time with everyone, especially somewhere he feels comfortable. The food sounds great too! And the “granddog” waiting at the door is just too sweet. It must mean a lot having them closer now.

My son has been very ill for some time and just isn’t always well enough to get out. It’s good to know he had an enjoyable time with our family. He has always been close with his older sister, and her husband and the son have a lot of mutual interests. It did my mama’s heart a lot of good. Thanks so much!

It means a lot that they are close to us now. Since they are caregivers of his parents for half the week or even more at times, we all just seem to shuffle through that, but we’ll get through it. Thank you, Eva.
