We've scored ourselves a workbench

When we moved here from our 15 acres, we had to downsize in a big way. Recently, someone in the village was offering a free workbench so we were quick to offer to take it off their hands.
It was a bit tatty and the top was coming to bits so we bought a piece of laminated timber and have replaced the top. Vince has attached a four-pin plug so it will be quite useful for the few small jobs that we might want to use it for.
Now that we’re down to one car, we are going to rearrange the garage a little and make a space where we were work.

Moving from our last house to this house caused us to downsize drastically and we still had too much stuff. We took more to the thrift shop here in town and gave away a lot more stuff to various friends. What we still can't get in the house, we stored in the detached garage. Most of it we haven't touched since we moved into this house almost 10 years ago.
We really need to go through everything in the garage and give most of it to the thrift shop so others can use the things we're just hanging onto for no reason.
I'm glad you managed to get a workbench you could use.

@JudyEv I had all kinds of kitchen and cooking stuff but, like you, we had to let a lot of it go.

@DaddyEvil It's actually quite heart-wrenching in a way. For us, we didn't really know what we'd need and what we wanted so there was quite of lot of things that we should have kept hold of.

That looks nice and sturdy. He did a good job fixing it up! It's kind of funny that the first workbench project was the actual workbench, heh heh.

That is kind of funny and reminds of when Vince joined a bush fire brigade back in the 1970s. The only fire truck they had was an old Army blitz and the first fire they put out was the horse-hair padded seat after a spark landed in it and set it alight! That was funny too.

Wow, that's lovely, I hope I have tools and space where I can also do some woodwork!
I hope you can show us your new workspace. Working space is very important to me - my sister and I called it "my favorite spot" in the house.

It's still a work in progress but I'll show some photos once we've done a bit more.

We're very pleased with it now. The old top was very shabby.
