Anybody remember Pete Seeger and Burl Ives? Glen Yarbrough? Activists and sometimes mellow. A merry band of troubadours. Daughter grew up with Pete.
We're headed to our favorite bakery this afternoon to celebrate Beltane. Mary the Queen of the May. First I will wash sheets and dig out a bitty butterfly bush- after Fred cat and I have a nap. Sweet sun again. I'm grateful for it. I hope everyone is well..

Of course I remember them. Burl Ives was from the area in southern Illinois that I lived in for a long time. He is buried in Jasper County, IL, in a tiny cemetery. I have stopped to see his resting place. There is also a Burl Ives bridge that is on a state highway not far from there. I've driven over it so many times.
If I were there, I would bribe you to get that itty bitty butterfly bush. I hope you and Fred cat have a nice restful nap.

@MarieCoyle That's wonderful. Burl Ives also had a lovely waterfront house hear near one of my sister's lives now.

My (ex's) grandmother was from the same area as the Ives family, and lived close to them. She said they were just farmers, and struggled like everyone else did, never had a lot. I know that Jasper County is very proud that they can claim Burl Ives.

I remember Burl Ives as the voice-over for holiday cartoons. I've never heard of the others you mentioned.

@DaddyEvil Pete Seeger was an activist as well as a singer. He wanted peace with all his being. He collected folk songs from America's roots.
