Selling the house

A photographer is coming tonight to take the pictures of the house (inside and outside) and then the house will be put on the market. I have a feeling that the house will not take a long time to sell. But at the same time, I have a feeling that finding an apartment for me to buy will not be a quick process. So far everything I’ve looked at I wasn’t a complete fan of. And I didn’t see myself living in any of them. Also, the prices are crazy. Property taxes for many of the apartments I’ve seen were more than what my mother pays in taxes for this house. And the asking price for the apartments was also very high. You can probably buy a nice house for that much money. I don’t know what I’m going to do.

You will be going to love with your mother until the right apartment for you comes up. What else can you do?

That is such a stressful "limbo" to be in! There’s nothing quite like the pressure of knowing your house is going to fly off the market while you’re still striking out on the search for your next home. Don't settle, though! If you can't "see" yourself living there, you'll likely regret it later, especially with those crazy prices. Sometimes the right place doesn't show up until the very last minute, but it is definitely a test of patience. Good luck with the photographer tonight—at least getting those "perfect" house photos out of the way is one big step checked off the list!

@cuttyrish I want to stay in the same borough as I am now, but be closer to my mother and closer to transportation.

I hope you're not getting too anxious although it would be hard not to. I hope things turn out well in the long run.

@lovebuglena I can understand that. And until you sell the house I guess you don't really have a budget.

A bit anxious for sure. I don’t want to end up with the house being sold but not having a place of my own yet to move into.

@JudyEv we have an asking price for the house we are selling so that’s helpful.

Get out of New York and move to a cheaper place. That's what I would do.

@lovebuglena Like someone said once, "If it keeps you broke, you REALLY gotta love it." lol For every dollar I spend, you spend 5. I hope it's worth it.

Where I live it is quite expensive to live in a nice apartment and in a nice neighborhood. I think that when I sell my house I won´t buy another one but rent something.

My mom thinks it’s better to buy than to rent.

@BACONSTRIPSXXX Thank you. I hope what my mom sells it for is enough to get me a new place and has money left over after taxes are paid on the sale.

I am alone, so I no longer want to live in a big house. I want to live in an apartment.

Prices for properties are inflated here right now. I imagine it's the same everywhere. Keep looking. There has to be the perfect place for you somewhere. Good luck.
