Cleaning the apartment

The whole thing has been weird. My mother has been estranged from her sisters (and late brother) for many years. I have stayed in touch with my aunts and uncles because I don't believe in cutting off family members. Anyway my mother, second mother (her BFF), and 2 aunts decided to come clean the apartment while I was away. Um the downstairs neighbor was dealing with the plants and litter boxes. . . but they felt the need to do a deep clean. Hey fine with me! So they cleaned and cleaned and who knows what they did. My mother is ruthless and tossed any plants that she thought were dying. I would have tried to save them but that's the difference between the 2 of us. She also decided to clean out the freezer. Her very advanced method was. . . . to throw everything away. My freezer was beyond full and now it is basically empty. That is a lot of food that she tossed. I'm NOT happy about that. And my ex was here one weekend to pick up some clothes and items that I needed. My nosy downstairs neighbor let him in and brought in some packages that had been delivered. She snarkily said to him "she could own a house if she didn't buy all of this stuff." #1) She is jealous that I have more money than she does. Hey I work and don't live off of disability 2) I ordered things that I normally would buy anyway. I always have candles here. When I see a "buy 3, get 3" sale then yes I'm going to buy them. Same with Old Navy shirts for work or philosophy skin care products. If I'm going to get them anyway then I'd might as well hit up the sale. I still have some cleaning to do here thanks to Bad Charlie but life goes on. I need to spot clean the carpet. I never want to be that person whose place smells like cat pee. So far I have done well with that project.

It’s great you have family who care enough about you to come and throw your stuff out. Just see it as a fresh start, and not just for the food.

That would really creep me out. I would save the plants as well.

She threw away the stuff in your freezer? That’s not overstepping. Ugh. Neither is throwing away plants you purposely kept. That would annoy me too. Is this the neighbor you said is on disability, but may not really be disabled? The one that was able to shovel your car out of it’s spot?

I would have completly inacceptable if anybody threw away ANYTHING I have in my fridge or freezer. When Leticia worked here even she could not get things out of the deep freezer. It is MY business if I am keeping a vegetable broth or a couple of apparently no meat bones there.

Sorry about the thrown-away food. I hope you are feeling good and settling in and the cat crew is showing you a lot of love. Charlie might have been angry that you had left and not come back.

I'd be miffed too if they threw away a lot of food.

Wow! I'd be upset too if that happened to me. Hope things get better for you.

The bottom line on your neighbour's comment is basic-Not her business! No opinion necessary nor appreciated, as it is literally your business and yours alone. Now whatever you make extras of to freeze, you will know the date it was put in really easily, that's the only silver lining that I could imagine on that one-sorry.

That would be annoying to find food thrown out. It's going a bit far really in my opinion.

Yeah..it's good to clean ..I hate bad smells too..too bad your mum threw out most of the things you stored in the freezer
