My girls first night alone last night

My daughter went from living with us to moving in with her boyfriend June of 2024. She was tired of putting up with his mental health issues so she broke it off with him for good. He officially moved all of his stuff out yesterday. Last night was her first night ever sleeping alone. She doesn’t drive so I have to pick her up and take her to work. Luckily she’s only a half mile from me and her job is another half mile maybe a little more. I have to pick her up after work as well but if I cant be there she can walk or wait at work for however long if she doesn’t want to walk.

That first night alone can be hard. When my first husband had duty on board ship I was very anxious about spending the night alone, because I had no one who could come "rescue me" if I needed it. My older sister never lived alone until she was 70. I think there is or can be a healthy balance. I am glad you live close to her, as that would be reassuring.

Yeah, in good weather that walk might even be pleasant. I’m sorry her boyfriend had too many mental health problems. She sure gave it her best shot.

@AmbiePam she doesn’t like being outdoors or walking but it would be good for her health to do it.

@shaggin I’m the same way because of my arthritic spine, but on a pretty day I love a good walk. It helps me physically and mentally.

@luisadannointed my husband is not being as supportive but what’s new about that! He isn’t her father if he was I’m sure he would treat her differently.

Your daughter needs your support during this time. It is good you are close at hand to help out in a meaningful way.

@Shiva49 she’s been doing great. We just need to get her a car. She’s has a few weeks off work and is starting a new job soon. I will have to drive her daily which means getting up earlier.

you're a great mum. it must have been hard putting up with his health issues. she's brave for breaking off with him. i am sure it was hard for here but her health and well-being matters too.
