Should hotdogs be classified as sandwich?

I recently came across an argument where some persons believe hotdogs is simply a sandwich and their defence was anything wrapped between two bread is basically a sandwich irrespective of the shape or size, and in a way it makes some sense, but there where others who claimed it's not but still couldn't classify where it should fall into. So what's your take mylot, are hotdogs simply sandwich?

I think technically, a hotdog is a sandwich. I never say I’m fixing a sandwich when I get a hot dog, but if we’re getting down to the nitty gritty, I’d say yes.

No. A hot dog is not a sandwich.
