I never thought I would buy a lot of movies. Heck, I just looked forward to seeing my old favorites when they would come back around on the TCM Playlist on cable. That's until the price of cable kept going up. When it, along with internet and the two DVRs, hit nearly $300 a month I started seeing stars. That's when I got the Roku TV, subscribed to 5 apps and got a great deal on internet service. So now I pay $140 for internet and apps.
I found many of my great old favorites on these apps but not all. So I found a site that has all the great vintage ones I have to see annually or I go into withdrawals.
Now I buy between 5-6 movies each month. I enjoy movies that came out between 1935 and 1959. Those in the 60s are mostly trash and before '35 are hard to hear.
Movies are special to me. I love the old actors like William Powell and Barbara Stanwyck. Their movies are so much better than most made nowadays. Some movies make sex so cheap while the oldies you will never see it. There is respect and tradition. They meant something back then. Scenes from many are running through my head right now.
Enjoy any good ones lately?

Yes, I do have a DVD collection, because I’ve learned that streaming services don’t care if you like a movie (or an album), they’ll just arbitrarily remove it.
I need to pick up a copy of Double Indemnity, speaking of Barbara Stanwyck. One of my favorite movies…so sleazy and gritty!

@celticeagle — yes, and Edward G. Robinson playing the good guy for a change. Brilliant movie.

I enjoy seeing movies from the Rocky Balboa franchise as well as the cartoon movie "The Jetsons Meet The Flintstones."

I wouldn't mind seeing those again. I was a fan of those.

Yes but most of our movies are the ones made for kids. I enjoy those.

@celticeagle People used to borrow mine all the time until I put a stop to that. I'd get the DVDs back scratched to pieces.

Yes, I've got a DVD collection that I've built up over the years, and also a VHS collection going back to the 80s (I'm now in the process of slowly digitising the latter.). I collect a mixture of classic horror movies and SF, and classic TV series. I mostly buy second-hand, because I never have massive amounts of money.
There's also a TV station in the UK called Talking Pictures TV. They specialise in showing vintage TV and films, from the 30s and 40 to about the 80s. They became really popular during the lockdown, and they've since started up a free streaming service called Encore. Lately I've been enjoying early 60s episodes of Z Cars, which was the original gritty crime drama.

I'm so glad to see that good movies are not gathering dust and are being viewed.

Yes. We have never tried any streaming services, cable or satellite or anything like that - heck I don't even know what half those words mean! But used DVDs are very cheap at charity shops and fairs and online on sites like Music Magpie, so we have quite a big collection!

I have a DVD collection but can no longer watch them. With the new TV the cable connection is different; and I don't have the correct cable. I'll take care of that some day.
The old movies that I enjoy the most are "B" science fiction. They are so funny for the most part.
