Sea Otters hold paws while sleeping so they do not float apart from each other. Did you know that the first cake was made in 2500 BC. They were dense and sweetened. Apple pie was made in England before it was made in the United States. All dogs have one of a kind nose prints.

I had read that about sea otters holding on to each other. The rest, it's new to me. Gosh...I guess the saying ''it's as American as apple pie!'' should be debunked and the honor given to England!!

That saying always makes me laugh. To my mind it means 'not American at all'!

@Fleura It's strange sometimes, how things like this can get twisted.

These are some fascinating tidbits of information. Many might overlook details like otters holding each other to avoid drifting apart from their partners, cake being an ancient food that still exists today, and pie originating in England rather than the United States.

I love otters. I think I have more otter pages showing up on Facebook than anything else…which is nice, I’d rather see a sweet otter than an ugly politician.

I knew that about sea otters and a dog’s nose, but it sounds like I really would not have enjoyed those cakes back then.

Sea otters are cute. I knew that the first cakes were made around 3,000 to 5,000 years BC by the ancient Egyptians. Those early cakes were round, sweet, and often used in religious festivals. The first Apple Pie is far more ancient than the USA.

@jstory07 - I have seen the "pies" in Pompeii, still inside the ovens that were covered in ashes when the volcano erupted.

I think that is so sweet that otters hold paws while sleeping. I wonder if there is a recipe for that cake,
