It's all in the presentation

My partner and I eat quite a lot of vegetables; he is particularly fond of vegetables of all sorts roasted. Meanwhile Little One would prefer to stick with meat and potatoes if she had the choice, although she will force down sweetcorn or carrots.
But oddly, one of her favourite meals is pasta with sauce – and the sauce is a concoction of whatever vegetables are available! It generally includes many things she generally dislikes – onions, peppers, squash, tomatoes, aubergines, courgettes, sweet potatoes… and yet she yums it up.
One day she saw me in the process of making it and asked ‘Is that what goes into the pasta sauce?’ and when I replied yes she said ‘Just don’t show me.’
It just goes to show… it’s all in the presentation!

Your poor daughter wouldn't survive at my house... I LIKE big chunks of veggies in soups and stews. But I use canned (bottled) spaghetti sauce. We make our own soups and stews but not spaghetti sauce.1 person likes this

@Fleura Wow! You're willing to admit that?

That looks like an array of vegetables rather than a sauce. Ratatouille comes to mind. Soup is a good way of ‘hiding’ the veg but making it delicious. You can always throw in some chicken or ham to satisfy the meat eaters in the family.

That's a great way to get your Little One to eat vegetables. I used to blend veggies and put it in my pasta sauce too when my grandkids refused to eat vegetables. Sneaky but certainly healthy

At the other end of the spectrum ….my 88 year old Mom doesn’t like tuna , yet I regularly have to make her a batch of tuna pasta salad. Also , she doesn’t like mushrooms, so whenever we have them on a meal she only has the stalk ! ( to me the stalk and the mushroom taste the same. ). Apart from that she is completely normal !

Maybe she doesn't like the mushroom cap texture?? I don't know. None of the rest of my family like mushrooms either, yet whenever my partner sees some mushrooms on special offer he buys them for me, But then of course they don't get used when we cook family meals so they get forgotten. You have just reminded me there are some in the fridge right now! Must do something with them before they go mouldy - you don't want fungus growing on your fungus do you?

@Fleura she says she doesn’t like the taste !
As there is only myself at home during the week I have to be careful buying mushrooms as like yourself they often get forgotten …. Fungus on your fungus is not nice …..
I do wish you could buy loose mushrooms ….i can’t really get through a punnet on my own very easily.

My husband was like that. As long as he didn't know what was in it, he would eat it.
