I have a 'verandah'

I have long hair which I think suits me better than short hair. I used to get it permed regularly but now I just wear it straight and get it trimmed whenever I happen to think about it which isn’t very often. My hair is fine and always wants to fall forward over my face which is why I often wear a beanie or hat. It keeps my hair out of my eyes and off my face.
This morning, I noticed in the mirror that there were several bits of short hair sticking out over my forehead. I was suddenly reminded that when I was a child, my mother and sister would tease me about these short bits of hair, calling it my ‘verandah’. I hadn’t thought about that for decades. You might be able to see it in the photo.

Lovely photo.
Never heard the sticky out hair called that ...but I can understand it.
I don't think we have a particular name for it ....it's definitely me in a morning before I've had chance to wrestle with my thick locks though ...

I have never heard someone call their bangs a verandah before. Do they give you some shade?

It wasn't really a bang, just little wisps of hair so no, they didn't give me any shade.

What an adorable picture.
I know what you mean about those fine short hairs, Harper has them, but I haven't heard them called a verandah.
I can feel my verandah is in the back at the bottom of my thick head of hair.
I dislike my hair flying to my face, and I do not look great with long hair, so I continue to get a curly perm as it makes the hair stay in place better for me.

That is an adorable look for you as a child. When I get hot and brush up my bangs, they curl up on top of my head.
