The Post Office Should Be Embarrassed With Their Service (or lack of)

Happy Thursday Everyone! sunny and warm here today
Todays fiasco revolves around the good old US Post Office.
I had a lady order a crocheted reading blanket from me on May 20th and I got it in the mail right away since she paid $12 for priority shipping. Shipping prices have gone up and you would think that the post office would be diligent in getting an item to it's destination.
Well, the lady who ordered the blanket lives in Wisconsin and I'm in Pennsylvania.
Thankfully I always include tracking when I send something and here's how it traveled.
It went through all of Pennsylvania and then to Puerto Rico, spent a few days going from facility to facility in PR and then last night it finally said will "arrive late" and was heading to the United States.
As of this morning her "priority" package is in Minnesota and with any sort of luck it will eventually find its way to Wisconsin.
I'm so bewildered that this package wound up in Puerto Rico.
Aside from this fiasco in my mailbox this morning is a post card from Oregon.
It's from someone named Anna sending it to someone named Nancy who lives in Massachusetts. Apparently Anna is having a good time in Oregon and wanted Nancy to know!
I put it in an envelope, addressed it to Nancy and hope she laughs at the post it note I included that said it was in my mailbox in PA.
I'm sure you're just as bewildered as I am with this whole post office fiasco.

I had a panic attack with the post office last week. I’ve had three credit cards not get delivered. (Additionally, if I hadn’t been in my front yard one day when the mailman came by, my car title would have been misdelivered, but I told him there was another piece of mail and he searched through the stuff and found it in the stack to be delivered to another house
). When my replacement credit card was overdue I went to complain; however, there was a woman there stating that the system was down and there “are no supervisors in the building.” I went to another post office and talked to a supervisor there. Turns out, she is in charge of the branch I’d just left, and she cringed every time I mentioned the branch’s name. We swapped war stories for a few minutes, and she told me that, these days, if there is a breathing body that’s warm they’ll hire it. That’s a FAR cry from when I worked at the post office, when it required testing and a long wait to be hired. It was also an envious job. No more. She said they almost get the people on the street corner begging for money and hire them.
The saddest thing is you can’t “blame” this on any administration. The post office is its own entity, and it’s a disaster. Nobody seems to want to see it improve, either. I have a feeling that, within ten years, our mail service will be Amazon or UPS.
Speaking of which, I got my other credit card shipped via UPS and it arrived nice and quickly. No fusses.

I've had the wrong mail delivered to me by mistake but usually it's just something for one of my neighbors so it's not too hard to just go and put it in their mailbox.
I can't believe how much trouble you had and it's sad that the post office has fallen into such a mess. I certainly wouldn't be surprised if Amazon and/or UPS took over at some point. At least they know how to get stuff delivered.

Exactly! that's what boggles my mind. I've seen packages go from the east end of the US to the west end and then back again for something that is supposed to be delivered to the east. That doesn't make any sense either but going totally out of the country to come back nowhere near where it has to go is just crazy. Right now I'm just hoping this lady gets her delivery

Oh, goodness. That is pathetic. I remember sending a package to Mississippi earlier this year, and it ended up in Florida. But that’s nothing compared to Puerto Rico!
They really should be ashamed of themselves. And you know my history with them. They need an overhaul, or at least some accountability.

I've had packages that were supposed to go up to New England that took a detour to Florida or even California but Puerto Rico?? That's really a mess.
I know you have nothing nice to say about them with all the grief they put you through,

Wow!
I'm curious why it ended up in Puerto Rico. If you do get the answer, please share it here.

Service is terrible and they just keep raising the prices. I hope you get your new card without any delays or issues.

It seems to take forever for a package to get to the person you mail it to.

The mail makes no sense anymore. I have had packages jump between 2 places a few times before getting to me.

I've been through fiascos such as this. Why your package went to PR is a case in point.

It is a constant nightmare. I never know what I will receive, or when, or most importantly, IF I will ever receive what I am expecting to. I constantly get other people's mail. At least once a week, a neighbor will bring something by that has my name and address on it, but was in their mailbox. And the frustrating thing is, I've lived here for years! We all have locked mailboxes! And they still can't get it right.
So many of us have trekked to the post office and complained. It does no good at all. To mail anything via Priority Mail, you need a loan from the bank! I sent some papers to the lawyer for my son the other day. I never, ever send anything important without at least sending it certified and tracking. Funny how it always gets to it's destination if the receiver has to sign for it.
It's just insane and I don't see any improvement coming. Very sad.

if you have something your looking for at a certain time
& they give you a date don't expect it to be there
till a few days after cause it's done traveled some
where god knows where to get to you.

Goodness, those are some stories. Our postage rates have just gone up - again! Who knows when it will stop - and the service doesn't get any better.
