A sweet and unexpected note from a student

I've been back at work for like 2 weeks now. I haven't been going crazy with trying to be some overachiever. I'm doing what I can (both there and here at the apartment) and trying to be gentle with myself. Some of the students are happy that I'm back. Some are not. I'm fine either way. I haven't been feeling particularly good so it has been tough to get through the days there.
With just over 2 weeks left the kids are outraged that I'm still teaching and assigning work. Most of them want to just freeze their grades as is since the replacement teachers pretty much gave it away. There have been all sorts of complaints and whining and moaning. I don't entertain it.
Anyway today after 1st period a student passed me a piece of paper on her way out the door. I think I can count all of the words she has said to me this year on 2 hands. There are some students that I have a special relationship with but this girl was not on my radar.
I don't know if the picture of her note will post. We shall see. If not I'll just type it out. I was really touched by her message. I brought it to the main office to show the building principal and to ask him to put it in my file. The union encourages us to do that. He said that more students like me than not. That's not the impression I get but again I don't stress over it. Let's see if this picture will load.

Well, that certainly is great and you deserve all the praise. Best of luck with the rest of the school term.

I do not know you in person, but I know that you pour everything that you have into your students and classes that you teach.
Amazing that someone, so young, has been so touched as to write this out for you.
I hope that you kept a copy for yourself, to look back on when you trade in your teacher's chalk and planners for retirement.

How sweet is that. Maybe she is just really shy. They say for every letter someone bothers to send to a company with a complaint there are another six that don't bother. I'm sure thee are more students who think you're fine. Some feel they have to go with the mob too, whether they agree or not.

That has to make your job seem more worthwhile....and it's well deserved.
