..so I commented on someone's post the other day asking for solution to a problem they raised. The person replied saying i should read the post. I felt the comment was rude, but I didn't want to enter into any argument or back and forth. So I just deleted my comment and kept quiet. Hello, if there was a solution in the post, I wouldn't have asked you...i wonder if some people even read their post..maybe they just copy and paste Now I've decided I'm never commenting under that person's post again. I think the best way to handle rude comments online is to not reply at all. The moment you reply, you've given them attention. Sometimes the most mature thing is to just delete and move on. How do you handle rude remarks online?

Some people are very rude, and they can’t be bothered to explain anything because their attitude is so bad. I do not mess with their posts as they are not worth my time. Please remember the fault lies with them, not you.

I probably would have felt a bit put off by that too. Sometimes people reply quickly and come across more blunt or rude than they intended, but “read the post” definitely doesn’t sound very welcoming.

It doesn't sound welcoming at all because I read the post before I asked that question..I guess the person didn't read her post or maybe she just copied from somewhere without understanding the content

Honestly it depends on who it is. Sometimes I try to look at the intent.

They probably just did not like your opinion. I find most rude rude comments like that? Did you actually read my post or they say do you know proper English? No I do not, but you know what I am saying, you just being a jerk because if you were so worried about my grammar, you would teach me properly and not be rude about it.

There is never a good reason for being rude. If people are rude on my posts ….not often …or even if I read comments from people on others posts that are rude I just stay away from their posts ….. I don’t want the drama ….

Some people don't read through posts, I don't think. Someone will ask a question, and the person who wrote the post will answer it. Then a slew of people will ask the very same question, the original poster has to answer the same question numerous times, it's insane. I recall when @LindaOH was trying to post daily about her husband's illness. So, so many people didn't read answers to questions, and she had to keep answering them over and over and over...it made me sad for her. Answering them once was no doubt hard enough.

That would have left me feeling the same way, but I have done what you have done, and just keep your distance. They sounded a bit standoffish anyways, and we don't really need any more drama in our lives do we? You just let it go.....

It depends on who the person is and whether I've had nice conversations with them before. If they're someone I really don't know, I ignore them and may think twice before trying to engage with them again. (Depending on how rude I feel like they were being, I might block them so they can't respond on the few discussions I post. It's their loss if I take that route. I usually only block someone if they've been rude repeatedly.) If it is someone I consider an acquaintance, I may ask them if they meant to be rude to me and then decide what I want to do after they explain themselves to me. Someone I consider a friend online, I may ignore their comment, chalking their comment up to them having a bad day and still talking to them on other discussions.

I think you're right. If you get into a slanging match, you've lowered yourself to their level.

I handle rude comments by not answering their comments and let it go since life is too short to be upset with persons who just want some attention.
