It's Opening Day—And I'm Grumpy About It

It's that time of the year, which this year came a bit later than normal. That is, pool opening day.
Let me just state, for the record, I'm not really looking forward to it. Not sure what things look like under the cover, but based on how we closed it last season, I suspect we'll have to drain it, power wash it, and start all over.
Honestly, I think I am pretty much done with the thing. If I had my way I'd just take it down and plant some grass seed and be done with it. It's a pain in the ass to maintain. It costs too much. And it's really not all that much fun anymore.
That's not to say there aren't times I am glad it's there and do enjoy it. It's just not as often an experience.
So, that will be my day, and probably my entire weekend—hell, my entire next week!
What are your plans for this fine June weekend?

A pool really is a lot of work to open, maintain and close again. Hope it isn't as bad as you're anticipating and that you have some good pool weather to enjoy in the upcoming months.

@porwest you're a good husband to keep it just for her enjoyment. I can't say i blame you for having that bulldozer as plan b if she says she's ready to give it up

Yardwork, housework, the usual. I did buy some new plants this weekend and most of them are in their containers.

I was happy with our small but satisfying pool in the garden in Latvia, It was not problem putting up and taking down and we got to cool off anyway, You could sit in cool water up to your neck, It was enough to enjoy,

After working in the aquatics industry as part of my career over the last 33 years, one thing I can tell you is that I would NEVER own a home that had a pool. They are nothing but money pits. Don't get me wrong, swimming pools are nice and refreshing to swim in, but maintaining them is much, much harder than anyone realizes.

We enjoyed the pool at the house we had but we never wanted another one. They're a lot of work for sure and cost money to keep nice.
