Did you know that Istanbul, a capital city of Turkey is a city of cats?

I saw it a couple of times on youtube (not promoting this platform) and it was cute. You're walking around the city and cats are there but not so fun when you're trying to have a relaxing dinner.
I remember one person who visited this city but she visited a decade ago and she didn't mention seeing a lot of cats. I didn't ask but i think she would have mentioned it.
All in all, it is cute but not sure will it be in reality, especially when a cat population is keep on growing and they should get spayed. I mean, local shelters are working on it but the city is just too big. I read that cats represent a good omen so local people like cats and they feed them but that's just at high rank touristic places. Away from those places, cats are just trying to survive.
I love cats but i think it would be too much for me too see them in a group of 10 or 20 or even more.
Would do you think about this little phenomenon?

I would really hope they have organizations trying to get these stray cats spayed and neutered. I could not deal with that many cats roaming around when I’m trying to eat. And what about those allergic to cats? I don’t know what you do since you don’t want harm to come to them.

i'm allergic to dust and many cats have traces of dust so not sure how i would deal with them in a huge number and on a everyday basis. plus, eatign near them. it sounds cute in a short run.

@valherma00 - I would fear more dogs than cats. Some dogs are aggressive, cats at most look at you to see if you give them something.

@LadyDuck agree. i always feel half tense when owners walk their dogs without their chains and claim they won't hurt you. i like cats more as well. and i like how easily i can pick them up, they aren't heavy as some dogs

I think it sounds cute in theory, but reality is probably more complicated. Seeing a few friendly cats wandering around a city can feel charming and almost magical, especially for tourists. Videos online definitely make it look adorable.

yes, it's all great when times are good, we are on vacation or we are watching a video of it. in reality, it usually isn't.
