Apple turnover as a treat

So, this morning, being Thursday, I was meeting Mom to go shopping.
We decided that we would have chicken for Sunday lunch ….thats okay with me as it’s my favourite.
So that meant a trip to Lidl . Also okay with me ….i never need an excuse to go there.
So, we met at Lidl, by the time Mom had arrived I had sought out the largest extra large chicken and got some of the orange pop that she likes and …..as a treat…..I got two apple turnovers, one each, for after our lunch.
It’s nice to get a surprise treat every now and then.
What treat are you always happy to be given ?

Mom bought ice cream from Lidl. Bourbon Vanilla …..she already has Salted Caramel in the freezer….

That sounds like such a lovely Thursday outing ?? And honestly, chicken for Sunday lunch plus a Lidl trip sounds like a pretty good plan to me too!

I was supposed to meet my dad at my apartment after we both left his house, but I beat him to my apartment, which is unusual. I found out why when he pulled into the parking lot. He had gone to a gas station to get me a big cup of coke that was ice cold. It was such a sweet thing to do, and a very nice, cold treat in this heat and humidity.
My late mom loved apple turnovers. Do you ever make them yourself?

@Traceyjayne He really is. He seems gruff and tough with my sister and I, but he does so much for us.

Apple turnovers are not something I make myself. I don’t have a lot of pastry …..I do make apple crumbles

I consider it a treat any time somebody else does the cooking so I get a break from it.
Pretty did ask me to make a cake but I don't know that I'll make one. We're still losing weight and a cake will be too tempting sitting in the kitchen calling my name all the time.

@Traceyjayne Pretty threw out well over half the last cake we bought so I'm not sure why she wants me to make one.
True... If I bought something like that, Pretty wouldn't like it if I didn't eat part of it, too.

Yes, I had a meal last night from my’ slimming book ‘ so I guess I shouldn’t have had a cake …..but I wanted to treat Mom and I know she wouldn’t have enjoyed it if she was sitting there eating cake and I didn’t have one !
