Yes, I am so very happy to let you know that I am now very very happily retired. Some will know of my accident last year with my arm, and all the extra problems that I had as a result of that. I had spent 40 years working and hit 60 in January …..so I decided it was time to get some ‘ me time ‘. I had done my working life and now it was time to enjoy my life ….on my terms … So I am looking forward to the next chapter of my life and so many new adventures ….. What are your thoughts on retirement ?

Congratulations on your retirement. Enjoy every bit of "me" time. Forty years of working is really that long and you really deserve now to do things you weren't able to do in the past.

I was teasing when I told you to blackmail the principal and retire early! I can't believe you actually did it! Shame on you! What did your hubby say? Congratulations! I hope you enjoy retirement. I know I mostly am, if health problems weren't part of it.

@Traceyjayne You're welcome. Did you at least smile about blackmailing the principal?

@traceyjayne Best thing I ever did. Should have done it years ago! I can up and away at the drop of a hat. One of my daughter's has just produced my 7th grandchild so we'll be going to see them in Manchester without using up valuable annual leave. I have a friend who retired but didn't tell her father and pretended she was still working full time because he was always going on about her being able to visit him every day and doing for him once she was retired.

Yes, I love the fact that I am my own boss now ….dont have to wait for school holidays ….which have been a perk the last 40 years …..can go to the caravan when I want. For how long I want, have days out, potter in my garden during the day and not using up valuable weekends … , go out to lunch with friends and family, spend time with my Mom ….

Oh, welcome to the club! I took early retirement myself. Sometimes I think about finding a temporary job for the last few years before I hit my 60s. the past year and a half has been so light and relaxing, and it’s been a wonderful journey without the hassle of waking up early for work—just enjoying my time at home. I also spent the first few months traveling, fully embracing my retirement and experiencing new environments.

Congratulations on your retirement! You deserve it. My stepmom retired at 61 when she married my dad, and my dad will retire in January, at the age of 71. He said he is definitely ready. Things that used to not bother him are now bothering him, and he wants to just retire. He expects he’ll get a part time job, but he’s going to retire as a pastor.

Thank you x I still want to be active though …that’s why I’ve a few ‘ extra ‘ things going on which also bring in some money. If I can find something to do, maybe from home, for a couple of days , I would be happy with that …..but anything I do now will be on my terms and around what I want to do …. I can finally do things I want to do, and I can spend time with Mom ….that time is precious . Looking forward to spending time at the caravan ….not being limited to school holidays etc….

We all gotta retire one day..we can't work forever. It might be scary at first but it's a phase everyone enters regardless. Wishing you the best as you journey through the next chapter of your life. Happy retirement
