Fun and done

Tradition: carrot cake for hubby's birthday. Will this be our final carrot cake? It takes a good effort to make one. He ground the wheat flour yesterday. I got up this morning and grated three cups of carrots on the hand grinder and then went through the steps of further making the cake. The silly thing stuck to the cake pan though I oiled it well so we had a very tasty! dump cake. I did use the little blender to make the cream cheese frosting so that was easy.
The young lady who is now kind of adopted brought over her sisters, Mom, Grandma and great uncle so hubby got his birthday party. The one sister looked at her smart phone, the other went out back and played with the pups but we had a house full. Hubby had ears ready to listen to a dumb joke so he was a happy guy.
Tomorrow: 70 above instead of 90. Friend is coming over in the afternoon so we will save a piece of messy carrot cake for her. By then the doctor phone call should be in and I will have figured out when the appointment will happen. I really really must water gardens again.

Happy birthday to your hubby! Dump cakes taste just as delicious as the pretty ones and nobody can convince me otherwise!

Messy cake or no, I bet it was delicious. Sounds like a fun time and a houseful of people. Yesterday and today were not hot, it was such a welcome respite from those steamy days we've had, and more of those are soon to be here again. I am not going to be watering, as it sounds like we will be getting lots of waves of storms the next two days--with probably more water than we want, all at once.
