@ineeddentures My wife watched incredulously while a friend but her dog’s dish in the dishwasher along with all her human dirty dishes and declined offers of cups of coffee in that house thereafter. I suppose though the aversion might be misplaced.

We washed the cats bowls in the sink with the rest of the dishes
Maybe your wife overreacted a wee bit.
I would never.decline a cup of coffee unless it was an inferior instant.
Luckily we don't have friends who drink instant

@Ineeddentures Instant - How can you even say the word? You need to wash your moth out with TCP (Tom Cat’s Piss) after mentioning instant coffee. In fact TPC tastes better.

I use disposable dish's for Sheba my cat
that saves me from having to wash them
& she gets a clean dish everyday.

@Ineeddentures you buy the small disposable Styrofoam
plates & bowls & that's what I buy, it's not expensive to keep
on hand & throw away compared to washing the everyday.

That sounds like a really good idea right enough
If I ever have pets again I will bear this on mind

@Ineeddentures - NO I moved the food from my plate to Gevi plate. I am too picky with hygiene and there is a serious risk letting a cat lick your plate. If there is a leftover of onion or garlic, chocolate, cheese it's a serious risk for your cat health.

They might not want their bowls washed with your dishes lol
I don't get why people don't wash pet food bowls with our own food bowls
Pets haven't shat in them lol

I don't have any...but my mom has 2 dogs. She washes their food dishes after their meal, separate from the rest lol

@Ineeddentures makes sense. My mom just feeds the dogs earlier, so dishes get cleaned earlier

That's what I do @Ineeddentures Baking soda seems to be the only thing that doesn't bug him.

Poor Roscoe
Maybe you just need to wash Roscoe bowl separately and not use soap , just clean hot water. And then make sure the dishtowel doesn't smell of soap either when you dry his bowl

Some people think we can get germs from washing cat bowls with our own
Which is really weird when dogs and cats lick their own backsides yet we let them slobber all over us

When I was living in the trailer, I had two cats (although one became missing). I had a dishwasher, but I would hand wash the cat bowls.
Now I live with 4 cats in my uncle's old house. He didn't have a dishwasher. So I do wash the cat bowls first and then the other dishes.

@Ineeddentures no sadly Sneezy was never found. Our cat food is not closely regulated like yours is.

Oh that's not good Jessica
Cat food should be regulated just like food we eat.

Why do you wash the cat bowls first?

No pets for me, but I don’t think I’d mind them being washed together. But honestly, I don’t use the dishwasher. I prefer to wash dishes by hand.

The dishes where the pets eat their food are washed separate from the dishes that are consumed by members of my family.

I would be cautious too,
Can't be too careful with our health.
Don't want to be catching a bug from a pet

Just a human being, being cautious or it's the other way around. Lol!
I'm just being considerate with the cat and other pet as well.

We used to have two cats who were sisters. Sadly, one of them passed away from kidney stones last year, leaving us with just one cat. We always clean her bowl after she eats. First, we wipe the dirty bowl with a paper towel to scrape off any leftover food, and then we rinse it in the sink.

A friend of ours never washes their own plates properly but his cats bowls are spotless

I know some people do it, but I think I’d prefer keeping them separate. Pets are family, but their bowls are still their bowls
