Many myLotters are interested in the FA Cup and some are avidly watching the progress of their favourite teams.
Australia’s Socceroos are competing, and they are dividing their non-playing time between the luxury Claremont Country Club in Berkeley and the Oakland Roots and Soul Sports Club. The chef made an interesting comment about how he gauges whether his meals are meeting with the team’s approval.
Firstly, if they eat up their dinners, then they’re enjoying the food. Secondly, he regularly checks the level of the Vegemite. The less Vegemite eaten, the happier he feels that his meals are being relished.
Vegemite seems to be an acquired taste but many of my generation virtually grew up on it. This thick, dark brown spread is made of leftover brewers’ yeast extract and is similar to the British Marmite. It has a strong, salty flavour and is high in B vitamins. We often have it on toast for breakfast.

@MarieCoyle The thing was that at the time I had never heard of Vegemite and I couldn't quite catch the lyrics so it was years before I understood what the song actually said!

@Fleura I had a cousin who lived in Australia for awhile, I asked him. I didn’t know, either!

Different strokes for different folks I tasted it once, and thought it was vile.

I’ve never tried Vegemite, but as I don’t like Marmite, then I’m sure I won’t like it either.
As for toast; the Socceroos need to up their game, or they will be toast.
