They Messed with the Food

This morning on the local morning show on the radio, the guys were talking about food tampering incidents. Things where people have been caught urinating in pickles or coleslaw, rubbing buns or hamburger patties on the dirty floor, spitting on the food or other foul things. Every time I hear stories like this, it just disgusts me. It's one of the most egregious and foul things one human being can do to another. It's just wrong on so many levels, and it makes you wonder what kind of mind could even ever rationalize doing such a thing. I have long said, if one were to be caught doing this, the penalties should be rather stiff. So many bad things could happen from tainted food. I think it should come with a 10-year minimum prison sentence. The thing is that we need a strong deterrence. There are some crimes people don't think twice to do simply because there really aren't any real consequences for doing it. What do you think of this? What do you think the penalties should be for messing with someone's food?

I think that a 10-year minimum prison sentence is what they deserve. All those caught should be put in jail, their face shown on TV so that people know that if you do something like that, you go to jail.

Exactly. To me, this is a very serious crime. It needs much stiffer penalties.

What l can't understand is why some rich folk would treat their cooks or household help badly - the persons who prepare their food.. Where restaurants are concerned l hardly eat out or order takeaway. I trust my own cooking.

@porwest we have to be thankful that those who display that level of wickedness are in the minority - not the majority. Otherwise the world would be a very"sick" place indeed.

It's not just rich people who get this done to their food. An unruly customer, or a police officer. In one story, the guy did something to a customer's food because he was mad at the boss and decided to take his anger out in another way. It's just a foul thing to do, and actually it's the poor people who treat waitstaff and restaurant workers the worst. They tend to go through their entire lives believing someone owes them something.

I can't imagine doing it, let alone THINKING about doing it. It's as vile as it gets.

I try not to think of it or how dirty the kitchen might be when I'm in a restaurant.

I was in pest control once in a former life. I can tell you horror stories. And I'm not going to exclude 4 and 5 star restaurants. Honestly, some of those were the worst next to Asian and Indian restaurants.

The very reason I'm cautious to a food not prepared by me or my family because of that stories and I caught someone doing such thing too. I'm not sure what's their punishment would be. But maybe they should experienced eating food they messed with. And ask them how does it feel? I know that isn't good doing the same thing and be like that kind of person who messed with food.

@porwest Such activity counts as assault and such carry an appropriate penalty. It's highly dangerous to interfere with people's food. I find myself eating a lot less frequently at restaurants now because ethe quality seems to be going down.

You are right..there should be some kind of prison sentence for it...maybe, 10 years prison term will make people think twice before doing those horrible things

What they did is totally rude and disgusting. I don't know anymore. People like that will remain the same, no matter how hard the penalties are. They won't change their attitude.
