Is the name your family calls you different than your real name?

Yes. Everyone who knows me calls me by my middle name. I've never been called by my official first name aside from by telemarketers and strangers. I don't know why my parents gave me my first name. They literally never used it.

My family and friends call me with the name "Jai" which are the first three letters of my real name.

My 3 brothers and myself all go by a name that is a nickname of our official name. My first name is 2 words, and cousins will call me that, and aunts and uncles. I basically answer to either Julia or Julie, nothing else really as I do not see the aunts, uncles and cousins often. My brother, Michael, goes by Mike, my brother Stephen, goes by Steve, and my brother Vincent Patrick, goes by V Patrick. We have an uncle who's first name as Vincent, and being my Dad's brother he shared the same last name. Nobody knows my baby brother by any other name other than Pat, although I did drop his full name decades ago at a Christmas party where he and my hubs worked, and after that people started calling him Vinny. It only really stuck with a couple of friends of his.

My mom was always called by her middle name. Melinda was going to be my sister’s name, and call her Mindy, but my dad said, no, we’re calling her what we name her, so they went with Mindy.

Nah.. everyone calls me the same name

Reminds me being confused how to introduced myself at work. because my real name is so different from my nickname. Also I and my siblings have endearment which makes other people end up confused too. Lol!
