Two Cards

My friend used to do the same but with envelopes. He would never write on the envelope or stick the flap down , in case you wanted to use the envelope again….his Mom always told him ….” All the cards I buy come with an envelope “ but he would say …..” yes, but what if you wanted to write a letter to someone, or you had to fill in and return a form….you would need an envelope then “ ……he had a point …

As a kid, giving cards as birthday gift was so common. Now, I don't see that anymore. I can't remember the last time I saw anyone in Nigeria handing out cards as gifts

Funny card to reuse and sweet one so he can keep - you got itt!

I keep all the cards I get for years. Sometimes I go and reread them.

That is a good way to give him cards.

I used to do something similar with my mom, were i'd get her a funny card and a sweet one. Now I don't bother with cards and instead write people letters. It saves money, there's more room to write everything, and it's a little more meaningful. My mom has a letter I wrote her about ten years ago, which she still pulls out and reads from time to time. I found out the teacher I wrote a letter to when my son was little kept her letter and reads it from time to time when she needs a pick-me-up. She told my son she treasured it. It made me feel happy that I could do something meaningful for someone that took only a little time and effort from me. I got her some gifts too, but it was the letter she liked the most. Sometimes people just like to be reminded that they're doing something right. I always loved the funny cards, though, so sometimes I'll slip one in if I find one I find particularly hilarious, if I think they'll appreciate it.

I never knew people re used cards like that. Good job on the funny card. I like that my dad's birthday and Father's Day are so close together. I usually send or give .one funny, and one serious card.

Great idea giving your dad two cards. That's really funny that he didn't write in the cards . When my kids were growing up I always put a dollar in their card. Some birthdays it was hard to even find that extra dollar but it became a tradition. Every year on my birthday my son puts a dollar in my card and I have a collection of cards all with the dollar still in them.

I guess you could write a message on a post-it note and stick it inside the card. Then he could have the message and still have a card to re-use! Rather strangely (for me) I never thought about re-using a card, although I do sometimes use the picture from the front and stick it on a plain card if I like it enough. Or use it as a gift tag.

I have a couple of cards (unused) that I keep because I like them so much.

My cousins solved the problem by recycling the cards even if a message was written in them (usually they were just signed). It became a joke to see how many different signatures were on the card. I thought it was a great idea!
