Sigh
For some reason mother in law calls us frequently on Mondays after her dinner and complains and complains and complains
She is so confused about things. Among the many things she said were:
She doesn’t like all the “sick” people there because they’re different than her and she’s not as crazy as everybody is telling her she is
She claims she never got to see the memory care facility and didn’t know she was moving in there. That’s not true.
She said her shower’s been broken and she hasn’t been able to bathe for three months. That’s not true.
There was more but you get the point.

My neighbor’s husband went to memory care with severe Dementia. For an entire week he screamed about someone taking his ten hundred dollar bills from his pants pocket. Of course he had no money in his pocket and hadn’t had any for a long time. Eventually he forgot about that and proceeded to tell everyone that someone took his two winter coats. They were hanging in his closet. She will move on to something else soon. Dementia is so hard to deal with.

Yes, I get the point. It is like some of the stuff hubby is doing now. I am sure the memory care place is fine, and she will be fine, but it is awful to hear it over and over.

It is so difficult. A friend's mother was living with her and suffering from dementia. On one occasion she had a bad stomach upset which caused explosive diarrhoea, and she didn't get to the toilet in time. My friend had to call the doctor and ask him to come out. Then she cleaned up all the mess. By the time the doctor came her mother was over the worst and completely denied that anything had been wrong, told the doctor she was absolutely fine.

I wonder if it’s a problem with things they do on the weekends then back to the weekday routine that throws her off.

It's such a cruel disease and it's horrible for the person who has it and for family members who have to watch their loved one suffer.
