Does your toothpaste have charcoal?

I’ve noticed that more toothpaste brands now have charcoal as one of their ingredients. They often claim it helps whiten teeth and remove stains. I've tried charcoal toothpaste before, and I thought it was pretty good. It left my mouth feeling clean, although I'm not sure if it really made my teeth any whiter. I'm curious if anyone here uses charcoal toothpaste. Have you noticed any difference? Do you like it better than regular toothpaste, or do you think it's just another trend?

I’m not certain, but believe we tried one before and my wife didn’t enjoy the taste. However, scientifically, charcoal is known to be an effective cleaning agent, particularly for teeth.

I've tried it too. The taste is a bit different, but I didn't mind it. I'm just not sure if it whitens teeth any better than regular toothpaste

I do, but not every day, I use the charcoal toothpaste a couple of times a week and another toothpaste the other days.

@sol_cee - Charcoal toothpaste is too abrasive for daily use and can damage tooth enamel. It also does not contain fluoride that is necessary to strengthen enamel.

@sol_cee No matter which toothpaste that pretends to "whiten" teeth is aggressive.

That's interesting. Is there a reason you only use the charcoal toothpaste a couple of times a week?

I think I’ve tried toothpaste with charcoal, but I’m not quite sure. If I did, it was a while ago. I mean, it makes sense to me that it would do what they claim, but I don’t really think it could do much more than other toothpastes already do.

That's understandable. Familiar products are often the most comfortable to use

Toothpaste with charcoal have been around for a number of years here. I do not buy it, we are satisfied without that type of toothpaste.

I’ve seen charcoal toothpaste in stores, but I have never tried it before. I use toothpaste with either baking soda or hydrogen peroxide to whiten my teeth.

@sol_cee Yes for sure, I drink coffee twice a day and it has removed surface stains. I use a straw now when I drink coffee to keep me teeth pearly white lol

Toothpaste used to make my mouth dry and my Mum would tell me to use charcoal.
