Our wee trip to the coast today

July 8, 2026 12:25pm CST
Just a wee post to let you all see this cute wee village we passed through today on our way around the Black Isle and Cromarty Firth. Village is called Avoch, Absolutely quaint, yet at the same time stunning Like the land that time has forgotten for about 50 years No cafe, nothing really apart from a wee harbour Despite it being a really hot day, not a soul on the beach Here are some pictures

@snowy22315 Well I think so. Waves bashing on the shore throwing foam all over the road no doubt

We liked the small towns with a harbor in Tuscany- We always waited for the fishermen to get back and we bought fresh fish to grill on the beach.

@Ineeddentures That was something we really loved. We had a small grill, we used coal, the taste of fresh fish grilled was so good.

@LadyDuck I did that when I lived in my tent on the beach. There were fish nets And I used to swim out and take the odd fish from them

What a beautiful little village! Places like that have a charm that's hard to find these days. Sometimes the lack of cafés, shops, and crowds is exactly what makes them so special.

I wanted to comment "not a soul to be seen". The boats are so inviting to ride/sail around. Lovely photo of wonderful weather too .
