My friend is leaving for France in one week's time and it's making me sad. I'm going to miss him. Not that we won't be able to communicate (thank goodness for FaceTime).
I didn't tell him I was gonna miss him though. I just pretend that it's ok. Anyways, he'll be there only for a month! But he knew though that I'm not happy about him being gone even just for a month. But it's work. And he's not happy to be away either.
What makes me even sadder is that he'll be spending his birthday there.

Yes I have a surprise present for him. Something that he would really love.

Give him a good send off
Tell him you will miss him
And then have a birthday celebration when he comes back

Nah, I prefer not to let him know. I have prepared something for his birthday when he comes back though. I'm planning to make something that I'm certain he will treasure and probably would make him cry.

I think it would be nice if you tell him you miss him. He will probably say it back.

Yeah I'm sure he'll say it back but I don't like dramas.

How sad. I would tell him you will miss him. And France is a nice place. I mean it could have been some awful place.

It's his home country but he doesn't prefer to live there. He'll only be staying for a month for work and then come back.

@celticeagle It is the case. Once a year, unless there's a company emergency, he goes back to France for 3 to 4 weeks. The shortest was one week when there was a company emergency and he had to go back to there. He hasn't lived in France for more than three decades.

@LadyDuck Last night he told me he wasn't really motivated to go there. But I told him that it's work and he has no choice. He does't like traveling far anymore. He gets too exhausted.

I would be sad too. But a month always goes by quickly.

That is true. I'm keeping myself busy so I won't notice the days he will be away.

You will have to do something for his Birthday when he gets back ....it will be something to look forward to.
It's only a month ...it's not that long ....it will soon go ....time flies ...

That is very true. And I have a gift that I'm sure he'll really appreciate for his birthday. I plant to draw something that he really loves.

Distance makes relations stronger so, stay strong and don't be sad

I'm pretty attached to all my friends and when I'm attached to someone, saying goodbye (even if just temporary) always makes me sad.
