Monday with The Girls

Today, my first day off from work, was spent with Grandpa and the girls.
We had a play date at a local park this morning.
Today was a very hot day, in the mid 30's with the humidex making it feel like the low 40's. Not weather to remain outside for long in. There was a nice little breeze this morning in part of the park.
There is a nice playground there, which the girls played on before the sun made the slides too hot to slide down on. At 10am the wading pool opened. They enjoyed that. It was busy today due to the weather and people taking time off from work.
After lunch we went over to Science Class, but when we arrived, we were informed that it was cancelled today. Our DIL texted us right after we were advised it was cancelled. But we were already in the car, and we took the girls for a little drive out to the reservation so Grandpa could fill up the car with reasonably priced gas. Both girls had a well-deserved nap in the car. While Willow napped, Harper chatted quietly with Grandpa and I, and while Harper napped, Willow chatted and sang quietly with us both.
We went outside and painted this afternoon. That really tired them out-it is just too hot today. I don't know how we'll get along tomorrow, the temperature is expected to be higher. We have another playdate at another park, this time it will be a spray pad that cools the children down.

Sounds like you all had a grand day. Thank goodness for the play dates in this heater. I need a mister.

@LadyDuck We were both exhausted by lunch time yesterday. 
Today we should try to make some muffins with them, Willow asked me yesterday if we could do that.
We stay busy outside in the mornings, but the afternoons, when it is the hottest, we stay inside.
We can paint some more but that is done out on the patio, so not until towards the end of the afternoon, before we leave, so that they burn off some of their energy before their parents finish working.
Today we should try to make some muffins with them, Willow asked me yesterday if we could do that.

I think it's awesome that you spend so much quality time with the girls.
My ex mother in law never was much of a grandmother.
You must be quite energetic too

I wish someone would make slides with something that protects the slide to be so hot. I remember how hot slide would get when I was little.
