Do movies teach better than books?

These days we have had great books adapted to movies, and while there are those who have not only watched the movie, have also read the book we still have tons of viewers who focus on just the movie. Most people claim books are better because it gives you more debts when it comes to explaining the character emotions for example, or it contains more details the movie might not be able to adapt. While there are those who believe movies are better cause most people today would rather watch a video than read a book. What's your take on this?

I prefer the books to the movie. You get more and better details, in my opinion. Usually, the movie deviates too much from the book so gives a different outlook. *shrug*

I completely agree with you here, in the movies they are always trying to please a certain audience so they end up changing several things, or due to time and Budget they cut off a lot of aspect.

I don't mind changes if they actually improve the story, but too often it feels like important scenes get rushed or left out. That's usually what makes the book stay with me longer than the movie.

Books are always better. The movies can get close but they can't replace the book. There's just some people though that really don't like to read and won't give the book a chance even though they watch the movie. I prefer to read the book first then watch the movie. My husband won't watch the movie until after I do if this is the case because I'll sit there and pick at the movie as I watch it.

@eLdav1s They really do and they expand on certain scenes more than a movie can budget. Like Harry Potter is a prime example. great movies but they cut out like half of each book to make it fit on a DVD.

Lol true, especially the young ones today, they always prefer watching videos than actually reading. But books often have more details.

@JordanLader Yes that's what i heard about the Harry Potter movie that so many parts was cut out. The upcoming series promised to be more faithful to the book, but we are know they might likely still cut out.

I like to consume the project the very way the creator of the project first intended, which is usually the book. So many liberties are now taken with movies that I don’t feel like I get the whole picture unless I first read the book.

Yea it will be pretty hard for movies to give you the full story due to limited time, and most especially the budget, so the book is always the better option to get the full story.

I usually like reading the book first. A movie can be great, but a book lets you imagine the characters and the world in your own way. Then it's fun to see how the filmmakers interpreted it.

@eLdav1s Everyone ends up picturing the characters and scenes a little differently, so it's always interesting to see how close (or far) the movie comes to what you imagined while reading.

I think it depends on whether you are a reader or not. Not everyone enjoyed reading and consequently probably don't get much out of it.

It depends on the writer and creator of the movies, the ting is who got the best influence of teaching the viewers or readers on how to live life better. to Christ be the glory.

In my opinion a book gives more details about what runs through the mind of the characters than the movie versions do.

movie can't cover the whole book but i like that many movie i watched were based on books so that made me thrilled.
