Baby Bird Resue

Yesterday morning before we left for my grandson's christening, I made my rounds and got all the animals settled and fed.
While I was getting ready to change out water for the chicken coop, I noticed a baby bird in a bucket I had taken out yesterday that was full (I had it soaking) of water. I peeked closely at it and thought it must have fallen out of a next. It was still alive, so I got it out of the bucket and placed it on the ground so that it could dry off/out. I finished my work out there and went inside to get something.
When I came back, the baby bird was gone. I hope mama bird came and got him or he flew off. He was a little one, so not sure he could even fly yet. Just hope he is safe now. He was a little cutie with some yellow on him. Not sure what kind of bird he was.

@LadyDuck Sudden and unexpected deaths are the worst kind. We had one of my daughter's best friends parents and dad's father hit by a drunk driver last month. The mom and grandfather were killed instantly and the dad has been in the hospital since. It is a miracle he survived. He went through brain surgery and other surgeries. Hoping he gets to come home soon.

Yes, we used to have mudswallows that nested in the eaves over our front walkway. One of them fell out of the nest, and I picked it up and moved it out of the way. I remember every now and again picking it up and tossing it into the air a bit, until one day I did that and it kept flying.

Aww, poor little thing. It sounds like you arrived at just the right time. If you hadn't noticed the baby bird in the bucket, it probably wouldn't have survived.

Dad and mom always told us not to touch baby birds that had fallen from their nest or the parents would reject it. I've always left them where I found them.

@kareng Yes, that is not correct... But I didn't know that until the internet came along.
Yeah, hawks or buzzards, sometimes crows, usually clean things up here, too. It's just the cycle of life.
