After acupuncture this afternoon one of the intake counselors asked me to go to her office. I felt like I was being called into the principal's office. It must have shown on my face because she said "its fine". The Boss Lady wanted her to have me call the insurance company because none of my claims from the last time have been processed. The counselor wanted me to do it because I'm a mom and can get answers. I said "I definitely am not a mom." She said "well you give off mom vibes". I said it was probably because I'm a teacher. Anyway she went through the automated process and was able to hear the status of various claims. We went through like 4 or 5 of them. The ones we heard about from March were paid. The ones from May were being processed. So the whole "they aren't being processed/paid" thing was some kind of misunderstanding I guess. What floored me though were the $$ amounts for the claims. One was for $60,000+. Another was for $160,000. The as of yet unpaid claim for 2 days in May was over $10,000. I will have to sit down and add everything up when I get back to the apartment. When the call center called my insurance to verify benefits for this retreat she had to leave a message and she said she'd call me back later in the day when she heard them. They approved me within 2 minutes. No wonder everyone here keeps saying I have good insurance. Believe me I have done my fair share of b!tching about how much my medical benefits cost me each month. Same with the private disability. Well that stops now. After seeing these numbers it was totally worth it.

I am glad they are settling up, even if you had to use your authoritative voice.

I still owe 550.00 to one place. Every time I have an appointment with this new Doc I pay 60.00. Fun times for sure.

Those are certainly some huge numbers. Vince's heart and lung operations didn't cost us a lot. We won't be giving up on our health insurance any time soon.
