They wanted me to do residential again

There are 4 phases at this program. Almost everyone starts at the detox facility which is where I am right now. I honestly didn't need it. I didn't do the Ativan taper just like I didn't do it this time. Anyway this is where I've been since Monday. The last time I was here they kept me for 12 days--again not because I needed it but because as they love to say I have great insurance.
The next step is the Residence which is a town or two over on the main campus. You are still stuck inside. Honestly I can't really think of how it is different from detox. It actually feels more restrictive there than it does here. If I wanted to use my phone they would have to contact my counselor to get permission. If I needed to use my laptop I had to get permission. I hated it there. It felt like I was going backwards in terms of privileges. Most people who go through there say that it is like jail and I have to agree.
After that you go to PHP (partial hospitalization program) which is basically sober living. You spend most of the day at the main house doing clinical sessions and holistics. When you are dismissed you return to the house (men's or women's) and your time is your own. You have free use of your electronics until 11pm. As time goes on you are allowed to leave campus with a visitor or even other patients.
The director of the program told my counselor that I had to go to residential since I'm leaving detox. He told her that I wouldn't agree to that. My former counselor at the main campus advocated for me and said that I don't need that level of care. So she eventually agreed to let me skip over to PHP. If she didn't I would be heading back to the apartment tomorrow.

Just now
Sometimes what is the usual thing just is not a great fit for people. I am glad you got them off your case about residential again.
