The Missing Tooth

Well, it’s not missing. I left it on the counter in shards, with the dentist. It was the very back tooth, and it was jagged, not able to be saved. The jaggedness had repeatedly scraped at my cheek which had left an ulcer. Which explains the pain. I just assumed the pain was from something to do with how I slept (I wear a mouthguard at night). Since you don’t notice it, and it was not salvageable, she took out the leftover jagged pieces. She also did X-rays. She’s putting together a treatment plan for the remainder of the work that needs to be done (2 crowns and a bridge). We’ll see how bad the cost is soon.
I did get the laughing gas, and that got rid of my migraine. So, that was good. Also, the hygienist thought I was in my early 30s which is good for a 45 year old to hear.

I hope you don’t hurt once the numbing wears off!! Have some ice handy for swelling. I bet you’re glad that’s over.

Ice helps dental pain so much. I hope you were able to eat and drink today.

@MarieCoyle I’m in a lot of pain right now. The numbing is gone, and the ice packs are not working well.

That's a nice compliment from her. Sorry about the pain you were having though.
I haven't been in a few years, but I've never took great care of mine and I need to just get rid of mine

@MommyOfEli2013 You might want to ask. They might be able to work with you for that.

@AmbiePam I really should, but I would only want to have work done while being under full sedation and don't know if they do it at this family clinic. They gave me shots last time when they removed a tooth but it was more than just uncomfortable. But it would be nice to not hate my horrible teeth.

That always makes you feel good when they think you are younger.

My last dentist appointment was around 20 years ago to cap one of my teeth.

That sounds like a serious tooth extraction. I imagine a tooth left to deteriorate badly can be challenging for a dentist to remove, as it may need to be taken out piece by piece. Good luck with the treatment that’s recommended to you; I know crowns and bridges can be quite costly these days. However, if it’s not visible, you might choose to leave it as it is unless you’re concerned about your appearance without the tooth.

I have a tooth that broke in the back of my mouth. I should have gone to the dentist, but didn't. There are some little jagged stumps in there though. I am hoping I can get a crown. Luckily, I got no infection..it just healed nicely Good luck with your dental work

It was at the end of last month. I opened my big mouth and asked about an implant on the lower left side, so now I have an appointment for that in a couple of months.

@AmbiePam — I’m in relatively good shape. The teeth are all gone over there, so I don’t have to have any pulled for it.

Glad you got it all fixed up, I have nto seen a dentist in ages and as long as there is no pain and I can eat I don't plan to look for one, They are now selling custom fit dentures just pop in mouth and not too expensive I am consider that option for when and if I roam out in the world, In my apartment I don't need them,

We finally found a dentist that takes Medicaid and has openings for us that weren't over a year away. Just a couple of months... My first appointment was scheduled for the 24th of August but, so is my 5 day hospital stay. (I kept saying that's when my hospital stay was scheduled but Pretty insisted it wasn't.) So today, she got an email from the hospital explaining what I'd need to bring with me on the 24th.
She had to call the dentist and change my appointment but didn't tell me when it will be.
I hope everything works out for you. Good luck!

I can understand the pain you went through. I'm glad you are well now and able to chew your food properly.
Fortunately I have no dental issues now.
