I think two days ago would have been my Dad's birthday. I know he grew up on an Illinois farm and his Dad raised Percheron draft horses. The story I got when I was a kid was that Dad travelled out to Montana and broke broncs. He always wore cowboy boots and a cowboy hat and due to his cigarettes his 6 foot 2 frame never weighed more than 130 pounds. He made it to age 67. And here I am, wondering how far I will get. I am grateful for the young person who now does my job of walking my dogs. I can't train horses so I do what is best for me: I work with my dogs. I showed my young dog walker what Rufus knows and I showed her what I had managed to teach wayward Moxe dog. Young dog walker has taken on the challenge with Moxe. This afternoon I walked with both dogs in my touristy downtown. We walked about half a block then made it across the street in one piece and visited the honey shop. I am sure we were a sight. Bent and wobbly me and my dragon cane, two dogs on my left side. Moxe was an angel. She knows her leash manners. Not perfect but she did not pull on me- right now 45 pounds of dog pull could yank me off my feet. Once I am down I can't get up. Moxe has learned well. When she got scared of a loud truck's noise I put her into a sit and had her calmly observe. I grew up with Lassie. I am grateful for the help that I've gotten with the dogs. She also knows the basics of waiting for me to be done with stairs before she goes down them. Very important stuff to know and to act on. Like I said, I am grateful.

I think you’re doing great trying to cope with all that’s happening. And Amber is correct, you aren’t going anywhere!!

You’re not going anywhere; I won’t allow it.
