What happened to Adso?

When I got back here Charlie of course ran up to me to be pet. Claire made her appearance about a minute after that. But there was no Adso. I knew he would be the last one to make an appearance but I thought it was very strange that I didn't see him after several minutes of me calling him.
Eventually I heard meowing coming from the spare room. I knew it had to be Adso though I had never heard him actually meow before. He just squeaks. Anyway I opened the door and there he was. . . along with a big mess on the floor--foam bits, shredded rug, etc. He clearly had been locked in there for a long time. That was also evident when I saw how concave he was around his hips.
I texted a picture of the destruction and asked my neighbor how long Adso had been trapped in there. She first claimed that she never touched the door and that it had been closed since I left. Then about 10 minutes later she said that her son had always seen the door open and it was open last night. She said that the cat must have knocked it closed.
2 wildly different stories and destruction of the rug that definitely took more than a day. The cat has lost a couple of pounds and again that doesn't happen in just a day.
I don't think that my neighbor was *trying* to harm Adso. She likely never saw him while she was here. Still I don't understand why the story is changing. I'd be more comfortable with the situation if she just said "OMG I didn't see him in there and I must have shut him in!"
Adso has eaten and drank plenty of water. He is acting normally though I have seen him trying to poop in the litter box a couple of times with nothing coming out. I don't think he needs to go to the vet but I'll keep a close eye on him over the weekend. Actually he hasn't left my side so it will be more like he will be keeping an eye on me.

Oh my goodness, poor Adso. She may not have meant to do it but she wasn’t careful enough for it not to happen and poor Adso was trapped. He must have been frightened and hungry …..and you pay her for this !

I am surprised they aren't all acting strangely feeling that they had been abandoned by their owner. Nico wouldn't be able to handle it for sure

That makes me furious! And if her son was in your apartment, that would make me mad, too. Please go over there and get your key from her!
