@MarieCoyle's discussion reminded me of the time when Craig tried to donate blood.
He was 19 at at that time and his grandfather was needing blood for his second surgery. Without hesitation, my son volunteered.
First screening was just an interview of his medical history, which I answered. Second screening, was a CBC test and blood pressure. He passed. During the third screening one of the staff went to me and told me they couldn't proceed.
My son fainted. And I knew why. Craig is afraid of needles. He has always been afraid of needles and blood since he was a kid.

Yes, three times that I can remember. The first time was when I was dizzy and crouched beside our car while talking on the phone. I passed out and somehow tossed my phone on the hood of the car. Pretty said I just stopped talking and then she heard a clang... I came to with somebody shaking my shoulder asking if I was okay.
The second time, I was mowing the yard and got too hot and passed out. Pretty dragged me to the car, got me loaded into the passenger seat and drove me to the hospital in first gear. I was positive she'd ruined the transmission on my Daytona... When I was released from the hospital, the car drove fine.
The third time, I was at the doctor's office and they needed to draw blood. I watched her insert the needle and the next thing I knew, three tiny ladies were trying to pick me up off the floor. I'd fallon off the table she'd had me sitting on while she drew blood. I've learned I can't watch them stick me or collect blood.
I used to donate blood every time the bloodmobile came to our city. I just can't watch them hooking me up to the equipment.

So he has no tattoos?
No, but I did once get a really big head rush and fell back. I remained conscious, though.

Just now
Almost passed out only once after a bad bout with the flu and the antibiotics still in my system made me very weak,

I have never fainted. When I was in high school, my best friend--who was a star athlete and one of the most popular guys in school--revealed to me he would faint any time he saw blood. So, we would purposely seek him out anytime someone had a cut or was bleeding, just for the laughs of watching him faint on the spot. It was hilarious for us, embarrassing for him. Thankfully, he was good-natured about the whole situation.

That would be weird. I passed out at a celebration at the park when I was just a young girl. I had been standing in line out in the hot sun.

I had fainted in my boyhood once. But the second one was quite recent. I fell in the washroom for a minute or so. The doctor told it was micturition syncope.

Sorry for your son. I had never experienced being loss consciousness. When I was in grade 1, I braved the immunization needle while my classmates were crying for they're aftaid of the injection.

That's a shame. I am sorry it didn't work out with him. I'm not the biggest fan of needles either.

Do they normally ask relatives to provide the blood? Here we have a blood bank, but are always after more donors.
I’ve never fainted but I’m not keen on needles either. I think it’s a natural reaction to being assaulted.
Brave lad though, to offer despite his fear.

Poor fellow. But he at least tried to donate. Some people don't do well with needles.
My son used to not do well with them. But he had to get past it the last few years due to all of his surgeries and medical procedures, It had to happen and he doesn't even flinch now. I never did think he would get past that, but he did somehow.
