Okay a bit of progress made

I don't think I've mentioned it but I have missed the 1st 2 days of work. Tuesday was a professional day so I wasn't sad to miss that. Today was the actual first day with the students. It has just been an ongoing continuation of the usual health issues. I spoke to the building principal and an assistant principal yesterday and they both said they just want me to feel better. The building principal told me to take today off if I needed to. . . so I did. Anyway the 10 hour nosebleed has stopped (not even exaggerating) and I have stopped immediately puking up any water or Gatorade so the plan is to get in there tomorrow to meet the students and start setting up the room. One of my work besties is across the hall from me so she said she would help me make some sense of everything. I'm not in a big rush. There are 179 days left in the school year. I don't know what is up with all of my rambling today. Point is that I finally worked out my passwords for the portals. I perused the IEPs though as I mentioned before they don't mean much to me until I get to know the students. I also even did lesson plans which everyone knows I despise. We were always encouraged to make them as broad as possible by the former science supervisor. The last "building" supervisor never complained about our minimalist approach. We have a new building supervisor this year. We shall see how that goes. I've witnessed other department supervisors who were absolute micro-managing crazies. That would cause me a lot of unnecessary stress. This is my 25th year of doing this job. If I don't have it figured out by now then I never will.

All work news aside, it's the 10 hour long nosebleed that's the big concern. That no doubt is a huge red flag that your platelets are in the toilet. You need to haul your little tail to somewhere, Urgent Care or wherever, and get them checked. The nosebleed is very concerning, even though it's over. Put your health first...don't wait.

Those nosebleeds can be devastating. I hope you get the cause figured out.

Glad your nosebleed stopped. I sure hope you can finally get it all together and get to school to begin your year. While you are sitting in that one room can you work or do something on your laptop?

Yes! I'll have a desktop and a Chromebook. I don't think anyone else will be in there during the day. **and** I have study hall duty so I won't have to rush off across the building for that.

Glad the nosebleed finally stopped, that sounds rough. Sounds like you're taking it easy which is smart, no need to rush with 179 days ahead. Hope the new supervisor turns out chill and not one of those micromanager types.

Hopefully they'll recognise how much experience you have and how little supervision (if that's the right word) you need.
