I have just read a post on FB where a man said that his friends say it is odd that in their house they don't have a microwave, toaster or kettle. They ....he and his wife .... Don't eat ready meals or reheat food so they have no use for a microwave. They use the grill if they want to have toast. He only drinks cold drinks and his wife only drinks coffee and she has a coffee machine so they don't have the need for a kettle . Anyway, it got me thinking ..... Do you think it's odd that they don't have these items ? Do you have them ? Could you do without them ?

I don't have a microwave oven, nor do I have a toaster. I have an electric health pot. This health pot can boil water, make tea, heat milk and cook food.

@zhangxueying. I have never heard of a health pot. Sounds like it is used for many things so it will be very useful.

I have a microwave, but no toaster or kettle. I did have a brand new toaster I never used that I got for free, but Dumb and Dumber threw it away when they “cleaned”. I don’t eat a lot of bread though so it doesn’t really hinder me much. It does feel odd to know someone doesn’t at least have a microwave.

@traceyjayne Growing up we had limited electricity (4 hours a day, 6-10 pm) so we had no electrical appliances. No kettle, microwave, electric oven or hob, TV, washing machine ….. did us no harm. But, yes, I’m probably odd.

@Traceyjayne 1960s rural Malawi. We did have running water though, except on Tuesdays when a man had to climb the mountain from whence flowed the water, and muck out the pipes.

That is strange, not cause they don't have them but cause of how they think. Don't eat ready meals or reheat food They use the grill if they want to have toast they don't have the need for a kettle.

It's not odd. They definitely don't need them . If they need those things, they would have bought them

NO, it's not at all odd. I do not have a microwave (I donated mine, because I never used it), I do not have a kettle (I do not drink tea), I have a toaster because I like toasted bread for breakfast.
