Eating in Front of the TV? yay or nay

Happy Thursday Everyone! a sunny morning here in my little corner of the myLot world. Of course there's a chance of rain or thunderstorm later in the day but that just seems like every day lately. The good news is it's a bit cooler so I was able to turn off the a/c for awhile. I'm sure my electric meter was happy to stop spinning While watching my morning tv talk show they were talking about eating in front of the tv and the birth of tv dinners by Swanson. They were showing commercials where they just popped these tv dinners in the oven and when ready peeled back the foil covering and ate it right out of the tin is cooked in. The price back then was only 99 cents!! I do remember those old tv dinners and probably had them at some point. Funny watching the commercial since frozen meals have come a long, long way since then. Just the thought of having to cook a frozen dinner in the oven makes anything that is microwaveable easy peasy. It certainly was a blast from the past seeing those old commercials and yes, I'm old enough to remember them. I'm still a fan of eating dinner in front of the tv Do you eat in front of the tv or do you sit at the table and enjoy your meal?

I did for a little time. We set in front of TV and had food on a little table. We stopped, it was not good, we tended to eat more without even realizing that we were eating.

You do have a point about tending to eat more when you're in front of the tv. I make my plate in the kitchen so whatever I have is all I have. I'm too lazy to get back up for more

I don’t have a kitchen or dining room table, so I always eat in front of the TV. There is just no room for a table. I don’t mind much; though on the rare occasion I have company for dinner I miss having a table. My city was supposed to finally get rain today, but we only got a few drops. I’m hoping more is to come.

@Marilynda1225 How did I not realize you were a General Hospital fan all this time?! I could have been talking to you about Sonny and Jason!

I have a nice dining room for company but I love relaxing in front of the tv and enjoying my dinner. Im all settled in my recliner, a good dinner and General Hospital. That's our routine. I do miss 25 Words or Less which we used to watch at lunch time

It was really funny seeing those old Swanson tv dinners. I still buy frozen meals occasionally like Smart Ones, Healthy Choice or Stouffers.

Remember tv trays? The days of all the family setting at the table with no tv and just talking and eating are long gone.

When we were kids, our parents never allowed us to watch tv while having dinner. It is simply a no no. But it was different when I became a parent myself. We all watched tv while eating.

The funny thing is that $1 in 1972 would be $7.99 today ..... What year were you referring to?

My mother used to buy them for my brothers and I when they were going out to a dinner dance. This was before she had a microwave. Shortly after that, she would grill up extra burgers and wrap them individually in tin foil and we could pop one into the toaster oven, then finally she got a microwave, and all of that was out the window. These days on occasion, I do not mind eating some things on the couch, only a slice of pizza or something like that though, nothing requiring utensils.

I eat all my meals by the side of my PC while I either play some backgammon or keep writing,

For the most part, we'll eat dinner at the table. However, occasionally, we'll let our kids eat in front of the tv. I know I'll do it sometimes too.

Those old TV dinner commercials are a trip, 99 cents and a whole meal, wild to think about now. I don't eat but if I did I'd probably be team couch too, table just feels like extra effort sometimes lol. Glad you got a break from the a/c though, that's always a good day.
