A Hard Memory to Recall

I happened to read a post from someone I follow on YouTube. She was saying that in the United States there are approximately 1,000 to 1,100 men murdered by a significant other each year. This is about 5% to 6% of all male victims. Around 34% of females murdered victims are killed by a S O. This interesting bit of statistics made me recall a day back in 1996 when I was packing my stuff to leave my ex. He was downstairs for quite awhile. Then I heard his shoes on the stairs and stop at the doorway of the room I was in. I ignored him and continued packing a box. Then I heard a loud weird click. I turned to see my ex in the doorway with a shotgun in his hands. If the gun had not misfired .........well you know the rest. Yeah, that was a rather tough one to recall.

I'm glad you got out safely. My first ex tried to run me over with her car. She had the driver's side door open so I was standing there talking to her about Pretty. My ex started the car and slammed it into reverse. If I hadn't braced well, she would have knocked me down and ran over me. Instead, her driver's door was laid back against the side of the car.

I am so sorry we had to endure such horrors. I'm glad you made it out okay. My daughter was there. I heard her go out. She went across the alley to the 7-11 and called the police. I honestly do not remember what happened after that. When I finally got away from him I had PTSD for several years. Each time there was a knock on the door or the door bell rang I would run to the other end of the apartment afraid it was him and he had found us.

Yes and I bet if they look into the statistics about the women who kill their significant other many are victims of domestic abuse!!!!

I had a friend with an abusive husband; she slept with a tire wrench under the bed
