Missing piece

Not long ago I was gifted a beautiful 1,000 piece puzzle.
I put it together at least a few times in the past.
I just finished doing it again yesterday only to find one piece is missing.
I could’ve sworn I had it in place but as I was finishing up the puzzle I noticed that spot was empty.
I’ve searched the surrounding area and it’s nowhere to be found.
Thought maybe it’s in the box but it’s not.
I wonder where it went.
My one assumption is that maybe I misplaced the piece the last time I did the puzzle and it wasn’t in the box now to begin with.
I am really bummed about that.
The picture is of the puzzle and one I took the first time time I did it.
All the pieces are there.

It must have gotten lost last time you had it out. That's a shame. At least you know that piece was there to begin with.

I am definitely not happy that it is missing, especially since originally the piece was there when I was gifted the puzzle.

I really hope it turns up. When I started doing the puzzle and I was doing the border I couldn’t find one of the pieces and I thought I had lost it. But then I found it. I didn’t think there would be any more missing pieces. I was wrong.

Oh that's such a bummer, one missing piece can really wreck the satisfaction of finishing it. It probably rolled under a couch or table leg at some point without you noticing. Maybe check your vacuum bag or under furniture, sometimes they turn up in the weirdest spots.

I checked under the table and under the couch and around that area and nothing. I could’ve sworn I filled that piece in at some point.
