I feel ashamed

I set my alarm for 5 and got up and went downstairs. I checked my messages and say around 11:30 last night a message from Baby S’s mother. She took the day off so she didn’t need a sitter today.
So I went back to bed. My husband rolled over and put his arm on me and he twitches in his sleep so it keeps me up. Then his alarm went off twice before he got out of bed.
I fell asleep deeply until the alarm went off at 6:30 to wake Little E up. I got her on the bus around 8 and decided I was bone tired and top a nap.
A few nights ago I had an upset stomach so I was up all night. I know the reason I have been so tired since is due to needing to catch up on that missed sleep. I always feel guilty and ashamed when I take a nap though thinking of all the things I could have accomplished.
I slept until 11:30. My oldest and I are going to the post office to deliver her packages at 1:30 and going driving to get some practice in for her.
Photo is of a neat mushroom I saw yesterday when I was out geocaching with my dog.

Girl, you are a superwoman that is also a mother. Moms are so used to doing for others that they feel guilty for doing anything for themselves. And getting a decent sleep is just something that should be an equal opportunity event for everyone. But not for moms! They never get breaks. I’m so glad you got extra sleep.

Sleep is so important. I hope you can relieve yourself of this feeling of guilt and shame.
Cool mushroom.

@celticeagle my husband didn’t ask what I did today so without having to tell him I took a nap I feel a little better. I’d be more ashamed if I had to tell him although he naps without any worry. I feel more judged with anything I do.

Nothing to be ashamed of, your body needs rest.

The reason why I rarely or never take a nap is that I always feel guilty doing so. Same as you, I think I'm missing a lot of opportunities to be productive. But there are days, which is very rare actually that I really couldn't help it and I would fall asleep during the day but it doesn't last long at all. Only a few minutes because the guilt would creep up.

If you're tired, then you're just tired and should nap when you get a chance. All the other stuff will still be there waiting until you feel up to doing something about it.
I can only do so much before I'm too tired to even think clearly. I take a nap whenever I need one. The work always waits.

@Daddyevil that is true but if I get the things done when Little E is at school and my husband is at school then I have more quality time with them. That’s where the guilt comes in.
I get sick to my stomach when I lack sleep. I feel like I’m coming down with a bug but it goes away when I get sleep.

Sometimes, Mom’s do too much. It’s just part of who we are, I think. I know there are days when sleep isn’t really possible for me, at least not much more than a rather short nap. And once in awhile, we all crash when we didn’t intend to. But—we’re human!! Our bodies need to rest. Don’t be so hard on yourself. I don’t feel guilty when I have to rest- sometimes we just have to!

. I can almost never nap so I know I must have really needed this.
