We stayed in a cute cabin for two nights

We sold our motor-home around Christmas time so when we wanted to go to the Mangowine concert we had to find accommodation. We were able to book the last little cabin at the Mukinbudin Caravan Park. These were once living quarters for men working on the railways. Vince’s Dad was a guard in the railways, when they had guards, and would have spent many a night in these types of huts. We were quite comfortable. There were two single beds, a small fridge and air-conditioning. The main drawback was having to walk over to the ablution block to the toilets. The toilets and showers were clean and the water was hot. There was also a well-equipped camp kitchen. However, in my father-in-law’s time, the rooms would have been very cold in winter and hot in summer. We were very pleased to have heating as the nights were quite chilly. The photo is mine. I liked the little flower beds placed here and there too.

As it looks charming. I wouldn’t have liked having to walk to the toilets since I drink so much water. I’d have to cut that out while I was there at night. But it still sounds very cool.

At our age, having toilets nearby becomes quite important as you can imagine! lol

Love that the cabin has a bit of railway history behind it, especially with Vince's dad being a guard. Sounds like a pretty comfy stay for a last minute booking, and the flower beds are a sweet touch. Walking to the toilets at night would bug me too but hot water and clean showers makes up for it.

@JudyEv You're welcome. We probably would have stopped somewhere and bought some sandwiches we could stick in the fridge or a cooler with ice while we were there. Pretty wouldn't have been happy about the bathroom situation but that wouldn't have bothered me.

Thanks. We were quite comfortable there but too many nights might have been different with having to cook or whatever.

So those are like company houses not torn out and repurposed. That's cool.

They are really cute. One time friend and I stayed in a really cute chalet in the Adirondacks with white birch all around. I wish I had taken a picture of it, as well as the name..in case I am ever up there again.

Life would have been much tougher during your father-in-law's time. Good that the arrangements for hot water and other amenities were there. Camping sites do not have each accommodation with an attached washroom. So one has to adjust. Here winters would set in by mid of next month. Days are still warm and we need ACs but nights are getting pleasant gradually.

It looks like a very clean and nice camp. It reminds me of a campground that we stayed at a few years ago up north. They had regular cabins, with a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and living room, and then they had smaller accommodations like these look like. They were for fishermen and the hunters. The downfall being no bathroom, and a bit of a hike to the community bathroom. And of course no a/c, and we went during the summer so the a/c was as high on the list as could be.

Those little cabins look really cute. I suppose they are not big enough to add a toilet.

@judyev They do look tiny but pretty. No toilet would be a problem. No way would my wife wander out in the dark to use it, but use it she’d have to so this would be problematic.
