Do you like pears?

I always forget about pears, when I think of my favorite fruit, but I love me a good pear. My favorite are Bartlett pears, but I will eat just about any kind of pear. Yesterday when I was at Trader Joes they had a bag of rainbow pears, they had a mixture of different types in the bag. I ate one last night, and it was really good. I do love pears, but I was also reading the other day that they are very good for your blood pressure,,so win, win. My BP was almost too low though when I was at the clinic yesterday, but I had taken two doses of fish oil yesterday. I think one is sufficient. I am starting on a new BP med anyway..which if it works out it will be very convenient as I will d/c the other, and only have to take the new one once per day.

We had a pear tree while growing up, but I never really liked them. My husband used to go out and pick some to take home once we started dating, he loves them.

I don't like the pears that are too hard..but regular yellow pears are awesome. When I was a kid we had a pear tree that they called winter pears. They really weren't good to eat though..they were never soft. They might have been OK for baking, but I don't think my mother ever used them for that.

@Juliaacv I was just reading about the winter pears. Supposedly if you pick them in the fall, they will ripen and become soft in the winter. My parents must not have known that, as we never tried it. Although, I am not sure my mom is a huge pear fan.

@snowy22315 We had a tree with Bartlett pears on it. Pears go from really green and hard to yellow and soft so quickly, I stopped buying them as they would rot before they were all eaten.

I love pears and Barlett pears are also my favorite. We were talking about those pears a few hours ago with Judy Evans. I like pears with a little piece of Parmesan cheese.

I do like pears and Bosc pears are my favorites. I would love to try rainbow pears as they do sound really good. I'll be buying pears now that they will be more readily available and it's good to know they help with BP.

Apparently they are one of the best fruits for BP.

I love pears ….i got lots for a few pennies not so long ago …way too many to eat before they went off. I have dehydrated lots and they are my favourite snack now.

Hmm, that is a neat idea. I love dehydrated strawberries, and I am sure pears would be even better.

We really like pears, too. I don't like them when they are overly ripe, nor when they are too green. But the perfect pear on it's best day is delicious.

I LOVE pears! Recently, I started buying plums, but previously, the only fruit I bought were pears. I really can’t get enough of them.

They are really good. They don't sell them that much here though..not like by the bag. I usually have to get them other places. My grandparents used to have a huge pear tree in their yard. They got so many pears they couldn't use them all. They finally cut it down though..as the smashed and rotting pears on the ground attracted too many bees.

I like the flavor of pears but not the mushiness. I did get a version through the organic co-op that were very crispy. I wish I remembered what they were because I'd order them again.

They are only mushy if they are over ripe. I am sure certain varieties like maybe Bosc are not mushy at all.

Pears are so underrated, I forget about them too until I get one and then I'm like why don't I eat these more. Bartlett is my pick too, nothing beats a ripe one. Hope the new med works out for you, once a day sounds so much easier.
